Basketball on the page: a three-point editorial project

Vicenzi S.p.A., a prestigious name in the world of baked goods, with a history that has its roots in 1905. Known for its leading brands - Matilde Vicenzi, Grisbì biscuits, and Mr.Day snacks - the company has distinguished itself as a leader in its sector. Recently, Vicenzi S.p.A. has started a collaboration with the well-known Veronese basketball team, Scaligera Basket Verona, a local pride supported with passion by president Giuseppe Vicenzi.

Goals

Celebrate the journey of Scaligera Basket Verona, a club which, under the aegis of Vicenzi S.p.A., has achieved significant goals: from promotion to A1 to numerous national and international triumphs. The aim was to create a photographic editorial project that immortalized the team's seven greatest sporting achievements, thus celebrating their success stories.

Solutions

For this special edition, we chose a thick cover, enhancing the emblematic colors of the team: yellow and blue. Titled "The 7 wonders that made basketball great in Verona", we recounted the team's exploits chronologically, mixing historical photographs with newspaper articles. The images, dated and dark, have been reworked to preserve their vintage authenticity, enriching them with a modern and dynamic touch. The graphic layout combines contrasts of full and empty spaces, overlaps and variations in size, enriched by direct testimonies from players, coaches and sponsors, to capture the atmosphere and emotions of the time.

Conclusions

The project turned into a collectible monograph, quickly becoming a cult object among basketball fans. The volume was praised for its ability to narrate the evolution of Scaligera Basket Verona, from humble local origins to its sporting exploits on a national scale, through an engaging and innovative language. After an initial distribution in limited edition with the newspaper Arena, the book is now available in the main Italian bookstores and on online platforms such as Mondadori Store, Feltrinelli, IBS and Amazon.
